The Foreign Language in Elementary Schools Program (FLES) provides quality before and after
school instruction in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and French. Classes are coordinated through the
PTAs with the cooperation of the Montgomery County Public School System. FLES is a program of
MCCPTA Educational Programs Inc, a non-profit organization partnering with PTAs since 1975.
Why should children participate in FLES?
- Children have a natural ability for language acquisition - so now is the time to begin!
- FLES classes are held right at your school and they are lively, fun and educational!
- Children sing, play games, play-act, read, write and speak entirely in the target language during each class
- FLES instructors are native speaking teachers who share their customs and traditions with their students
- FLES generates an interest in other cultures
- FLES builds confidence and provides a firm foundation for the continued study of languages in middle and high school
Winter Session classes begin January 2012
Introductory Level - Winter Session
- Open to Kindergarten & 1st graders
- One 10-week session
- Classes meet once a week
- 45 minutes of instruction
- $130.00 for 10 lessons
Beginner Level - Winter Session- Open to 2nd - 5th graders (Introductory level not a prerequisite)
- One 12-week Winter Session B
- Classes meet once a week
- One hour of instruction
- $130.00 for 12 lessons
