After-School Activities

The Lake Seneca Elementary PTA provides after-school learning opportunities in the form of clubs and other activities that allow the children to have fun while learning.

Here is the current list of after-school activities:

GROUP MUSICindex
Students will participate in an ensemble music group and may choose which instrument to play during the session: piano, guitar, violin, or drums. They will learn about the instruments as well as how to play in a music group. Parents will be invited to attend on the last day of class. Rental instruments and music are included, and students will take their instruments and music home between classes to enjoy.

CODING CLUB
0In Coding Club, students will learn to code their own interactive animations, stories, and games using Scratch. Scratch is a fun and creative way to learn programming skills and computational thinking. The curriculum was designed for kids who are new to coding or have experience and are ready for more advanced concepts. When you’re coding with Scratch, the only limit is your imagination!

HIP-HOP DANCE

SPORTS SPECTACULAR

Students will practice skills and play games in both traditional sports and playground favorites. The Sports Spectacular Variety Program features the best “to-do” list ever: Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, Kickball, Capture the Flag, Wiffle Ball, Bump and Bite, Knights and Dragons, Numbers Game, Tag Games, Safe Base, and MORE! Emphasis is on playing, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness.

SHOOTING STARS SOCCER

This program emphasizes fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students will have a blast and make new friends playing World Cup Tournament, Battle Balls, Trapper 500, Corner Kick Challenge, and Soccer Knockout.

CHESS CLUB0
The Chess Club is taught using a curriculum developed by National Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play. Playing chess is a great way to develop a child’s critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and patience – all while having fun! All grades and skill levels are welcome.

Students will have a blast drawing their favorite emojis in a fun collage as well as exploring color. They will also engage in seasonal art-making, including a cartoon-style drawing of a dog with antlers and a graphic of candy canes. In the winter session, students will learn about basic design and composition as they draw fish below ice and the Great Wall of China. They will also learn about art history in lessons featuring master artists Leonardo Da Vinci and Franz Marc.

YOGA
download (1)Yoga is an ancient healing practice known to calm the body, mind, and emotions. In this playful yoga class designed especially for elementary aged-children, children will learn yoga poses, breathing, and relaxation exercises that cultivate a calm mind, increase strength and flexibility, improve gross and fine motor skills, improve concentration, and give children the tools to manage stress in their daily lives. Games, stories, and music will be incorporated into this fun, non-competitive class. Children should bring their own yoga mat to class.
