After-School Activities

The Lake Seneca Elementary PTA provides after-school learning opportunities in the form of clubs and other activities that allow the children to have fun while learning.

Here is the current list of after-school activities:

ROBOTICS CLUB
0Each week, students will build and code a different space-themed robot using LEGO® gears, pulleys, axles, motors, and sensors.

CHESS CLUB0
The Chess Club is taught using a curriculum developed by National Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play. Playing chess is a great way to develop a child’s critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and patience – all while having fun! All grades and skill levels are welcome.

YOGA
download (1)Yoga is an ancient healing practice known to calm the body, mind, and emotions. In this playful yoga class designed especially for elementary aged-children, children will learn yoga poses, breathing, and relaxation exercises that cultivate a calm mind, increase strength and flexibility, improve gross and fine motor skills, improve concentration, and give children the tools to manage stress in their daily lives. Games, stories, and music will be incorporated into this fun, non-competitive class. Children should bring their own yoga mat to class.

CODING CLUB
0In Coding Club, students will learn to code their own interactive animations, stories, and games using Scratch. Scratch is a fun and creative way to learn programming skills and computational thinking. The curriculum was designed for kids who are new to coding or have experience and are ready for more advanced concepts. When you’re coding with Scratch, the only limit is your imagination!

HIP-HOP DANCE

Young Rembrandts is designed to teach art techniques and vocabulary to elementary children. As students draw a new lesson every week, they learn a variety of art concepts including: portraiture, perspective, still life, realism/abstraction, art history, color theory, fundamental composition skills, line and patterning, and art vocabulary.

If you think Freeze Tag is fun, try it on a scooter. If you love an obstacle course, see what it’s like when you roll on through it. This gym class favorite has made its way to after school and Overtime Athletics is ready to put you in the driver’s seat!

CHEERLEADING & JUMP ROPE

We’ll work on basic cheer and dance movements that have participants smiling from ear to ear and bouncing from head to toe! We bring the sidelines to center stage with cheers that include: “Who Rocks the House”, “G-O Yell GO”, “Dynamite”, and many more. Our pyramid of activity will include cheers, routines, jump roping, and warm up games.

SHOOTING STARS SOCCER

This program emphasizes fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students will have a blast and make new friends playing World Cup Tournament, Battle Balls, Trapper 500, Corner Kick Challenge, and Soccer Knockout.

GROUP MUSICindex
Students will participate in an ensemble music group and may choose which instrument to play during the session: piano, guitar, violin, or drums. They will learn about the instruments as well as how to play in a music group. Parents will be invited to attend on the last day of class. Rental instruments and music are included, and students will take their instruments and music home between classes to enjoy.
