After-School Activities

The Lake Seneca Elementary PTA provides after-school learning opportunities in the form of clubs and other activities that allow the children to have fun while learning.

Here is the list of after-school activities for Fall 2018:

In this variety athletic program, students will practice skills and play games in both traditional sports and playground favorites, including basketball, soccer, flag football, kickball, capture the flag, wiffle ball, bump and bite, knights and dragons, numbers game, tag games, safe base and more. Emphasis is on teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness.

*** PLEASE NOTE: The start date for all Overtime Athletics after-school activities has been pushed back one week. Sports Spectacular will begin Monday, 10/1.

Students will take their game to the next level and learn to play Soccer like the pros. Coaches will teach skills like dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting, and defense. This program emphasizes fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Kids will have a blast and make new friends playing World Cup Tournament, Battle Balls, Trapper 500, Corner Kick Challenge, and Soccer Knockout.

0CODING CLUB
In Coding Club, students will learn to code their own interactive animations, stories, and games using Scratch. Scratch is a fun and creative way to learn programming skills and computational thinking. The curriculum was designed for kids who are new to coding or have experience and are ready for more advanced concepts. When you’re coding with Scratch, the only limit is your imagination!

CHESS CLUB0
The Chess Club is taught using a curriculum developed by National Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play. Playing chess is a great way to develop a child’s critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and patience – all while having fun! All grades and skill levels are welcome.

In this playful yoga class designed especially for elementary aged-children, children will learn yoga poses; cultivate a calm mind with breathing and relaxation exercises; increase strength and flexibility; improve concentrate; and gain tools to manage daily stress. Games, stories, and music will be incorporated into this fun, non-competitive class. Children should bring their own yoga mat to class.

indexGROUP MUSIC
Students will participate in an ensemble music group and may choose which instrument to play during the session: piano, guitar, violin, or drums. They will learn about the instruments as well as how to play in a music group. Parents will be invited to attend on the last day of class. Rental instruments and music are included, and students will take their instruments and music home between classes to enjoy.

Students will have a blast drawing their favorite emojis in a fun collage as well as exploring color. They will also engage in seasonal art-making, including a cartoon-style drawing of a dog with antlers and a graphic of candy canes.

HIP-HOP DANCE
