Girls in Aviation Day is October 13! Great STEM Event for Lake Seneca Students

The AOPA Chapter of Women in Aviation will be holding a Girls in Aviation Day event this Saturday, October 13, 2018, in conjunction with Women in Aviation International. The event will take place at the AOPA National Aviation Community Center (296 Buchheimer Rd.) at Frederick Municipal Airport in Frederick, Maryland.

Girls ages 8 to 16 will have the opportunity to talk with female aviation professionals, engage in hands-on activities and crafts, view aircraft displays, take a turn at the controls of a flight simulator, and even take part in a scavenger hunt.

This year there will be two sessions:

  • Morning Session: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Afternoon Session: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded throughout both sessions. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $7.50. To register, click here.

Attention Girl Scout Troop Leaders: You can use the event as an opportunity for your troop to earn an event merit badge. Make sure to check “Girl Scout” for all of the scouts’ registration forms to receive the badge the day of the event.

IMPORTANT: All children attending between the ages of 3 and 18 must have an event ticket. Boys are welcome to attend too, but must have a ticket. Every Girl Scout in a troop must have an event ticket and much check on the form that they are a “Girl Scout” to receive a merit badge the day of the event. Parents and troop leaders do not need to register. No refunds.
